The DOGS are a social golfing society with members of different skill levels, some good some not so good.
The DOGS are a golfing society based at Keperra Golf Club in North Brisbane. We are mature individuals with different levels of skills some good (Mexicans) and some not so good (Duffers).
The society is a fun based society were turning up on an early (very early some days) Sunday morning is a challenge on its own.
The society started with four excitable individuals in 2014 on a long weekend of golf at the Sunshine Coast. Paul, Nick, Colin and Danny during the weekend, while warming down, in a bar somewhere in Maroochydore after a days play, agreed that they should start the society. In 2015 the DOGS (Duffers Old Golf Society) was created.
In the first year, the society grew to over 20 individuals and ended with the first DOGS weekend away on the Sunshine Coast.
The DOGS play golf once a month on a Sunday morning. A couple of months a year we visit other local clubs to spice up the golf.
During a year we have rounds that are part of a competition that runs throughout the year and ends with an end of year round where the winners are crowned, yes there is more than one winner as we don’t want to cause a member to feel left out.
At the end of the year, we have a long weekend away where we are partnered up for the weekend and challenge ourselves to three days of golf, with liquid refreshment to prepare for the next day of competition. With the best pair becoming the DOGS trophy winners for the year.
